This portrait of a cuckoo stealing a reed warbler’s egg from its nest - by Oldrich Mikulica, from the Czech Republic - won the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2011 competition. Cuckoos remove their host’s eggs and replace it with one of their own - which is nearly identical in appearance.
